Eat That Question: Frank Zappa in His Own Words spells out just what it’s about in its title. Rather than explore the life of this larger-than-life musician through interviews with others, Eat That Question relies on archival interviews from Zappa over the course of his career. The film also mixes in footage of concerts throughout his professional career, from his legendary rock performances to his takes on orchestral music towards the end of his life. Zappa is a legitimately interesting figure, and this film offers something both for Zappa neophytes and long-time fans. For fans of experimental music, or music that pushes at boundaries, Eat That Question is well worth watching.
